About HempHaven Apothecary

HempHaven was founded in 2016 by Martha and Eli Caldwell, a herbalist couple who have called Asheville home for three generations. Martha trained in clinical herbalism at the North American Institute of Medical Herbalism; Eli grew up farming hemp before it was legal, on land that has been in his family since the 1940s.

When the 2018 Farm Bill passed, they formalised what they had been doing quietly for years — and HempHaven was born.

The Appalachian Tradition

The mountains of Western North Carolina have a centuries-old tradition of plant medicine. HempHaven draws on this heritage, sourcing many of their complementary herbs from Appalachian farms and wild-crafted from land they manage sustainably.

This herbal tradition pairs naturally with hemp: valerian and passionflower for sleep, skullcap and lemon balm for anxiety, arnica and comfrey for pain and tissue healing. Hemp amplifies and is amplified by these traditional botanicals.

B Corp Certification

HempHaven is one of a small number of hemp brands to hold B Corporation certification, meaning they meet rigorous standards for social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. 1% of every sale goes to Appalachian forest conservation.
